Add Ornamental Grasses for Extra Interest

There are so many varieties of these grasses (from very small to VERY large). So, do your homework before adding to your garden. And yet, with all the variety that exists, I see the ever 'popular' Pampas Grass everywhere! I encourage you to consider adding something 'other' than this one. They add such a nice contrast to the traditional elements typically found in the yard. In late winter, you'll want to trim them back (so you don't have blades blowing all over your yard). Also, look for ones with showy plumes for awesome fall/winter color. Pink Muhly grass is one of my favorites!
